Background
Raw jackfruit fritters are very easy to make and taste delicious. This recipe is my Mother's own and everyone in my family loves these fritters.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw jackfruit (finely chopped)
- ½ cup split chickpea
- 2 Tbsp rice flour
- 1 big sized onion (finely chopped)
- 2 green chillies (finely chopped)
- ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
- A pinch of turmeric
- 1-2 tsp chilli powder
- ¼ tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Handful of coriander leaves (finely chopped)
- Oil for deep frying
- Water as required
Instructions
- Place the raw jackfruit in a pressure cooker with ¼ cup of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles and turn off the heat.
- Cook the chickpeas in pressure cooker until done. If there is still water, transfer the chick peas in to a pan and evaporate the water on medium heat. Mash the chick peas to coarse paste.
- Take a pan, add 1 Tbsp oil and fry the finely chopped onions with ginger garlic paste until translucent.
- Mash the jack fruit to coarse paste using a blender.
- Take a bowl, add mashed jackfruit, chick pea paste, onions, chopped green chillies, rice flour, turmeric, chilli powder, garam masala, chopped coriander, salt. Mix well and set aside.
- Take small portion of the mixture and make it in to small ball. Take the ball & press it with your hands. Repeat for whole mixture.
- Take deep bottomed vessel and add oil for deep frying. Gently add them to the hot oil and fry them until they get fully brown on both sides.
- Serve hot with sambar rice or ketchup.
