Background
Semiya upma with vegetables is a healthy breakfast dish which is easy to make and is delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 cup vermicelli
- 5 tsp oil
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp split black gram
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- 1 big sized onion (finely chopped)
- 2 green chillies (slit and cut)
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 2 Tbsp peas
- 2 Tbsp carrot (finely chopped)
- 1 Tbsp sweet corn
- 2 Tbsp beans (finely chopped)
- 1 inch ginger (finely chopped)
- water as needed
Instructions
- Take a deep bottom vessel and fill half with water . Add 1 tsp of oil and ½ tsp salt. Bring it to boil. Add the vermicelli and cook until soft and drain the water. Similar to how one cooks noodles. Set aside the cooked vermicelli.
- In a pan, add oil , cumin seeds and split black gram , sauté for 2 min.
- Add onions, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves. Fry for 5 min.
- Add the carrots, beans, peas and sweet corn, sauté for 3 min. Cover and cook until they turn soft.
- Add the cooked vermicelli and gently toss to mix the vegetables and vermicelli. Make sure not to over mix it.
- Server hot for breakfast.
