Spinach beef burger

Background
I like trying out different burger recipes! This spinach beef burger is quite an easy one, it requires hardly any time or effort to make the patties. Serve them in buns (gluten-free, if required) or with chips, sweet potato wedges and/orΒ a salad.
Ingredients
- 450g minced Beef
- 2 large handfuls of baby spinach
- 1 bunch of spring onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 egg, beaten
- Tabasco
- To assemble: rolls, pickled cucumber/ gherkin , grilled pepper, tomatoes slices, caramelized onion etc
Instructions
- Finely chop the spinach2. In a large bowl, mix the mince with the egg, spinach, cumin and salad onions. Season with salt and pepper and add a few drops of Tabasco to your liking.
- Shape the mixture between your palms into 6 equal-sized patties.
- Cook the patties on the BBQ, in a griddle pan or under hot grill for 5-7 minutes on each side.
- Cut the rolls in half and toast the cut sides until lightly charred, then assemble the burgers to your liking. Alternatively serve the patties with chips, sweet potato wedges and/or a green salad.
Tips
- Alternative method: pour over the spinach some boiling water and let it wilt, then drain and squeeze out the excess water. Roughly chop and add to the minced beef (in this case you'll need more spinach, about 250g)
- You can use frozen spinach too!
