Steamed broccoli with Asian dressing
Background
Steamed broccoli is very healthy and pouring some interesting dressing or spicy sauce over it can make it absolutely delicious. This steamed broccoli with Asian dressing is a good example - and not only is it yummy but it takes just 5 minutes to make! Perfect with barbecued fish/meat or it can be served as part of a Chinese or other South-East Asian menu.
Ingredients
- 300g broccoli rosettes ( purple or tenderstem)
- 2.5 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp rice vinegar
- 1.5 tsp groundnut oil
- Β½ red chilli
- Β½ tsp light unrefined cane sugar
- Β½ Tbsp lime juice
Instructions
- Deseed and finely chop the chilli. Put the broccoli rosettes in a bamboo basket.
- Pour some water in a wok and put the bamboo basket over it (the water should not touch the bottom). Put the lid on the bamboo basket. Heat it up and steam the broccoli until tender.
- Meanwhile mix the other ingredients in a small bowl. Season & taste it, then adjust the lime juice and seasoning to your liking.
- Arrange the broccoli in a serving dish and drizzle over the sauce.
- Serve immediately.
