White chocolate truffles
Background
If you want a super-easy, very tasty and delicate looking gift or treat for Christmas, New Year, Easter, St Valentine's day or other celebrations - these white chocolate truffles will tick all the boxes. You can leave out the booze if it's not appropriate! Serve it as a snack at the end of a special dinner with coffee or dessert wine. Alternatively wrap them in boxes and give them as presents to your friends! They will just adore them!
Ingredients
- 200g white chocolate
- 50 ml double cream
- 1 Tbsp liqueur
- Garnish: shredded coconut, icing sugar, cocoa powder, edible glitter, ground nuts etc
Instructions
- Break the chocolate into small pieces and put into a heavy-based pan. Add the cream and liqueur and warm it up gently, whilst stirring constantly.
- When the chocolate is melted, turn off the heat and pour it into a bowl. Let it cool then put it to rest in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours (under cover to avoid absorbing other food odours).
- Spoon little dumplings into your palm and form small balls.
- Rotate the balls in your choice of desiccated coconut, cocoa powder, icing sugar, edible glitter, finely chopped nuts and so on. Chill them in the refrigerator until serving.
Tips
- Coconut, almond or orange liqueur work well (or limoncello at Easter)
- You can make snowmen at Christmas: Add coconut liquor to the chocolate. When cooled form 3 different sizes of balls and rotate them in desiccated coconut. Put the balls on top of each other, then using dried cranberries, raisins and almonds/ pistachios create eyes, nose and buttons. Use ribbons for the scarf.
