Background
This apple and fig crumble is a lovely dessert after a Sunday roast and any leftover is a perfect snack during the week. This recipe is a healthy version, you can make it easily gluten and dairy free too by using dairy-free margarine and gluten-free oats & flour.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe figs
- 3 cooking apples
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- Topping:
- 25g butter
- 25g light soft bown sugar
- 25g whole-wheat or rice flour
- 25g rolled oats
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Peel and core the apples, then chop up into bite-sized pieces.
- Chop the figs into bite-sized chunks.
- Mix the fruit in bowl with the honey, vanilla and cinnamon. Transfer this fruit mixture into an ovenproof dish.
- Rub the butter and flour into breadcrumbs, then add the sugar and oatmeal (add a pinch of cinnamon too). Mix well. Cover the fruits with this mixture.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm with custard, vanilla-ice cream or Greek yoghurt.
Tips
For the topping you can use ready-made or (even better!) home-made granola.© 2024 Copyright CookTogether
