Background
The crumble is a classic English dessert, normally made with apples &/or berries. This banana & chocolate crumble is an interesting variation. It's not only delicious, but very simple to make too! You can substitute half of the flour with rolled oats, if you'd prefer a moreΒ healthy and crunchy version.
Ingredients
- 6 bananas
- 100g flour
- 80g butter or margarine (cut into small cubes)
- 50g cocoa powder (high quality)
- 50g unrefined sugar
- 100g walnuts, hazelnuts or almonds
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190°C.
- Coarsely chop the nuts.
- In a large bowl mix the cocoa, flour, butter and sugar, then rub this mixture with your fingers until you get a crumble resembling breadcrumbs. Mix in the nuts.
- Slice the bananas and layer them in a heat-proof dish. Cover the bananas with the crumble. Bake for about 25- 30 minutes.
- Rest for 5 minutes before serving.
