Chinese-style barbecued chicken legs
Background
These Chinese-style barbecued chicken legs are made with Chinese spices and a marmalade glaze. Perfect for parties, picnics, BBQs and celebrations all year around, but particularly during the Chinese New Year festivities. It's very easy to prepare but should be marinated for a few hours for the flavours properly to infuse.
Ingredients
- 8-10 chicken legs (thighs or drumsticks)
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 3 cm ginger
- 1 clove garlic, pressed
- Β½ Tbsp Chinese five spice blend
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp orange marmalade
- 1 tsp grated orange peel
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Instructions
- Peel and grate the ginger.
- Mix the ingredients together, then pour it into a plastic bag. Add the chicken pieces. Tie the bag, shake it around and massage the chicken legs through the bag, making sure that they are well covered with the mixture.
- Chill for a couple of hours (up to 4 if you can).
- Barbecue or grill on medium heat until cooked through and golden.
- Serve warm or cold.
