Background
Much though I love making bread by hand a bread machine can't be beaten for convenience - particularly if you like fresh bread in the morning but don't fancy getting up at 4:00 a.m. to bake it! You still control all the ingredients and can adjust them to suit any allergies or sensitivities in the family. Β This Olive Bread is a favourite of ours - the breakfast time aroma is just wonderful!
Ingredients
- ΒΎ tsp Yeast (fast action dried)
- 400g Strong flour
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 Tbsp Olive oil
- 1 Tbsp dried Oregano (or Herbes de Provence)
- 270 ml Water
- Auto Dispenser: 70-80g Black Olives (whole pitted)
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients, except the olives, to the bowl of the bread machine.
- Select the programme appropriate to your machine for medium whole wheat raisin - about 5 hours. Use the delay timer if you want it for breakfast.
- Add the olives to the automatic dispenser. If your machine doesn't have one, add them when the add ingredients beeper sounds - normally about 75 minutes into the cycle.
Tips
- You can use 50% Canadian Strong Wholemeal and 50% White flour or other combinations to get your preferred texture.
- Use milk (or dairy free almond milk) instead of water for a richer loaf.
- You can mix in other olives for more colour.
