Prawn curry with coconut milk

Background
Prawn curry with coconut milk is a gravy based masala curry made using shrimp in south Indian style. This is a quick and easy recipe that best pairs with any fragrant rice and/or chapathis.
Ingredients
- 300 gms prawns
- 1 large onion chopped
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 pinches turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- Β½ tsp coriander powder
- Β½ tsp garam masala
- ΒΌ tsp cumin powder
- 2 Tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- 1 spring curry leaves
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Devein and wash the prawns. Set aside.
- Add 1 Tbsp oil to a pan and fry till transparent. Add ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell disappears.
- Add salt, turmeric, red chilli, coriander, cumin, garam masala powders and fry well for 5 minutes. Cool and blend to a smooth paste.
- Add another Tbsp of oil to the pan and add curry leaves and the prawns, fry for 5 minutes.
- Pour the ground mixture and add coconut milk and cook till the prawns are cooked.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve with rice or chapathi.
