Background
Raw papaya is a very healthy vegetable, the same as the ripened papaya. It tastes great with coconut and yogurt sauce. This curry goes very well with steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 1 Small raw papaya (Peeled, diced and boiled)
- Β½ Coconut grated
- 1 Green chilli
- 1 Cup Beaten yogurt
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 Dry red chillies
- 1 Sprig curry leaves
- Salt as required
- 1 tsp Turmeric
Instructions
- Grind together coconut and green chilli with water to make a smooth paste. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a deep bottomed vessel, add mustard seeds, red chilli and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
- Add the boiled raw papaya, beaten curd, turmeric, salt and the ground paste.
- Let the curry boil. If the gravy seems very thick, water can be added to it to make it smooth.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
