Background

Raw papaya is a very healthy vegetable, the same as the ripened papaya. It tastes great with coconut and yogurt sauce. This curry goes very well with steamed rice.

Ingredients

1 Small raw papaya (Peeled, diced and boiled)
½ Coconut grated
1 Green chilli
1 Cup Beaten yogurt
1 tsp Oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
2 Dry red chillies
1 Sprig curry leaves
Salt as required
1 tsp Turmeric

Instructions

Grind together coconut and green chilli with water to make a smooth paste. Set aside.
Heat oil in a deep bottomed vessel, add mustard seeds, red chilli and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
Add the boiled raw papaya, beaten curd, turmeric, salt and the ground paste.
Let the curry boil. If the gravy seems very thick, water can be added to it to make it smooth.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
