Background
I have a few “classic” recipes that I turn to when I have guests for Summer barbecues. One of them is this BBQ pork steak with apple recipe, which is absolutely delicious, easy to make, gluten & dairy-free, and you basically can’t go wrong with it. Sometimes I use Worcestershire sauce instead of cider which works really well. Serve it with a potato and/or crispy salad, and other grilled veggies.
Ingredients
- 4 pork leg steaks
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 apple
- For the marinade:
- 4 Tbsp apple cider (or Worcestershire sauce)
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp cider vinegar
- 1 Tbsp thyme leaves
- 1 Tbsp oil
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Pat-dry the pork steaks, then dust & rub them with the garlic powder.
- Mix the ingredients of the marinade together.
- Place the steaks in a shallow dish (or a freezer bag) and pour over the marinade.
- Marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the BBQ or griddle pan, then cook the steaks for 3-5 minutes on each side (depending on their thickness).
- Meanwhile, core the apple, then cut it into 5mm rings. Coat these with the pork marinade then barbecue/grill them next to the steaks.
- Serve the pork steaks with the grilled apple slices.
