Dosa is an Indian pancake made of lentils and rice soaked overnight and blended togetherΒ and the batter is fermented. It is a very famous breakfast in the South of India. It goes well with coconut chutney or peanut chutney or sambar.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup White lentil (urad dal)
- 2 Cups Basmati rice
- Water as required
- Salt as required

Instructions
- Soak the lentils and rice separately overnight and drain.
- In a blender, grind the lentils adding water little by little to make a smooth paste and set it aside in a bowl.
- Grind the rice to a smooth paste by adding water little by little taking care not to make it watery.
- Mix both the pastes and salt together and let it ferment for 6 hrs or until it doubles up.
- Heat a pancake pan and scoop a spoonful of batter and spread it around so that it is spread evenly and thin.
- Add few drops of oil on the edges of the pancake so that it doesn't stick to the pan.
- When the pancake turns brown, remove it from the pan.
- Serve hot with chutney.
