Moroccan lamb burger
Background
If you want to make some tasty but easy food for a laid-back party or would like to try something different on lazy weekends – this The Moroccan hamburger recipe is for you! The patties can be grilled, fried, baked or barbecued. They are gluten & dairy-free, rather spicy and really yummy. Serve the burgers in flatbread and/or with a crispy salad.
Ingredients
- 1 can chickpeas (400g)
- 1 medium carrot
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tsp Ras el hanout spice mix
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 red chilli
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 handful of coriander leaves
- 150g minced lamb meat
- 150g minced lamb meat
- Oil to cook
Instructions
- Rinse and drain the chickpeas. Deseed (and perhaps devein) then finely chop the chilli. Roughly grate the carrot and finely chop the coriander.
- Mix the chickpeas with the carrot, spices, chilli, egg and coriander in a mixing bowl. Put half of the mixture into a food processor and blend until you get a thick paste.
- Transfer the paste back into the mixing bowl. Add the minced lamb, salt & pepper, then combine well.
- Make 8-10 balls of the mixture, then slightly flatten them between your palms. Put these patties on a plate and chill for 15-30 minutes, or until you’re ready to cook them.
- Heat the grill, griddle or BBQ. Brush the patties lightly with some oil and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side. Alternatively, bake them in a preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until golden.
- Serve the burgers warm with your chosen condiments, side dishes and buns.
