Peanut Chutney
Background
Peanut chutney is one of my favourite chutneys that goes well with dosa or idli. It has a distinctive nutty taste to it. I like it more than the coconut chutney!
Ingredients
- 1 cup Peanuts
- 1 Green chilli
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 Garlic clove
- ½" Tamarind piece
- 1 Dry red chilli
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- A sprig of curry leaves
- 1 tsp Oil
- ½ tsp Sugar
Instructions
- Heat a pan, dry roast the peanuts and set them aside to cool down.
- Blend together, dry roasted peanuts, green chilli, cumin seeds, garlic clove, tamarind, sugar and salt adding water little by little to make a smooth paste. Put this blended paste in a serving bowl.
- In a pan, heat oil and add the mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add dry red chilli and curry leaves too. Pour this seasoning over the blended paste and mix.
