Background
This roasted pear with Roquefort is a wonderful appetizer or starter - but it could also served after a special meal, perhaps with a glass of port. It only takes 15 minutes to make.
Ingredients
- 2 medium-ripe pears
- 100g Roquefort cheese
- 50g walnut
- 1 Tbsp crème fraiche
- 1 Tbsp red port
- 1 sprig onion
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180Β°C.
- Crumble the cheese into a mixing bowl.
- Chop roughly the nuts, add to the cheese. Thinly slice the onions, add to the cheese.
- Cut the pears in half lengthwise. Remove the core and seeds. Using a melon baller gently scrape out most of the flesh. Chop this up and add to the cheese.
- Finally add the port and crème fraiche to the cheese, season to taste, then mix well.
- Fill the pear halves with the mixture and place them onto a baking tray.
- Roast for 5-8 minutes until the cheese starts to melt.
- Serve warm.
