Spiced venison nuggets

Background
These spiced venison nuggets are ready within 15 minutes so they are perfect as weekend snacks or party nibbles during the game season! Serve them with lime juice squeezed over then and with salsa, chilli sauce or mayo/crΓ¨me fraîche on the side. If you donβt want them to be rather spicy, reduce the chilli powder to your liking.
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp chipotle paste
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1.5 tsp paprika
- 1.5 tsp ground cumin
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 450g venison steak
- 3-4 Tbsp corn flour or chickpea (gram) flour
- oil for frying
Instructions
- Slice the venison into 2cm wide strips.
- Mix all ingredients (except the corn/gram flour) and pour over the venison, coating each slice well. Marinate for 30 minutes.
- Put the flour into a freezer bag. Drain the venison, season with salt and pepper, then put the slices in the bag and shake until the flour coats the meat all over.
- Shake off the excess flour, then fry the nuggets in hot, deep oil for 2 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
