Background
This steamed pak choi (or bok choy) is a very delicate and tasty side dish that not only fits perfectly in a Chinese menu but goes well with grilled fish or chicken.
Ingredients
- 750g Pak choi (bok choy)
- 2 tsp chopped ginger
- 1 garlic (pressed)
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce (light)
Instructions
- Cut the pak choi in half or into four wedges if they are large.
- Start heating some water in a wok and place a bamboo steaming basket in the wok (the water should not touch the base).
- On a plate, that easily fits in the bamboo steamer, mix the pak choi with the ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce and garlic. Place the plate in the bamboo basket.
- When the water boils, put the lid on the bamboo basket and steam for 3-5 minutes until the pak choi is tender and wilted.
- Serve immediately.
