Background
Andhra mutton gravy is popular recipe from southern state of Andhra Pradesh. This dish is spicy and very tasty. This one is a favorite of mine and usually made on Sunday and enjoyed by all in my household.
Ingredients
- 300g mutton ( cut into medium sized pieces)
- 2 large onions
- 3 green chillis
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 and ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
- ½ tsp pepper powder
- handful of coriander leaves (finely chopped)
- ½ cup coconut and poppy seeds paste
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Wash and clean the mutton pieces thoroughly and pressure cook the mutton until soft. Keep aside.
- Take a heavy bottomed pan and add oil.
- To the oil, add onions and green chills and fry until the onions are translucent.
- Add ginger garlic paste to the onions and fry until the raw smell is gone.
- Add mutton pieces, chilli, turmeric powders and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 min.
- Add the coconut and poppy seeds paste and mix well. Cook for 10 min on low flame.
- Add the garam masala and pepper powder. Mix well.
- Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
