Background

Bottle gourd or Calabash halwa is an Indian desert. It tastes delicious and is very easy to make. This dish is made on festive occasions.

Ingredients

2 cups grated tender bottle gourd
8-10 cashew nuts
5-6 almonds
1 cup sugar
½ liter milk
½ cup clarified butter
10 raisins
1 cup condensed milk
A pinch edible green color

Instructions

Take a tender bottle gourd, deseed and grate.
Heat clarified butter in a pan and add cashew nuts, almonds (slit into thin pieces) and raisins.
Add grated bottle gourd and cook for 10 minutes on low flame.
Add milk and green color. Keep mixing.
Add condensed milk and sugar. Mix for 5 minutes till right consistency.
Serve at room temperature.
