Background

Cabbage fry is a healthy South Indian recipe and this is my mother's recipe. This dish is very easy to make and goes well with rice or roti.

Ingredients

500g cabbage (finely chopped)
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp split black gram
1 tsp split chickpeas
3-4 green chillies (slit and cut)
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ cup grated coconut
2 Tbsp oil
1 sprig curry leaves
Salt to taste

Instructions

Take a pan and add oil, mustard, black gram, green chillies, curry leaves and split chickpea seeds. Saute for 2 min.
Add the cabbage, turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
Cover with lid to cook the cabbage for 10 min or until the cabbage is soft. Add water if required.
Remove lid and fry for 3-4 minutes.
Add grated coconut and cook for 2 min.
Serve hot with rice or roti.
