Background
Cabbage fry is a healthy South Indian recipe and this is my mother's recipe. This dish is very easy to make and goes well with rice or roti.
Ingredients
- 500g cabbage (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp split black gram
- 1 tsp split chickpeas
- 3-4 green chillies (slit and cut)
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ½ cup grated coconut
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Take a pan and add oil, mustard, black gram, green chillies, curry leaves and split chickpea seeds. Saute for 2 min.
- Add the cabbage, turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
- Cover with lid to cook the cabbage for 10 min or until the cabbage is soft. Add water if required.
- Remove lid and fry for 3-4 minutes.
- Add grated coconut and cook for 2 min.
- Serve hot with rice or roti.
