Chickpeas in gram flour sauce

Background
Chickpeas in gram flour sauce also called chole in gram flour gravy is a Punjabi dish, but this recipe is different from the popular Punjabi chole version. It tastes great with rice or roti.
Ingredients
- 1 can chickpeas
- 1 Tbsp Oil
- ½ Tbsp Gram flour
- A pinch asafoetida
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- Salt as required
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 1 tsp Dry mango powder
- 1 tsp Chaat masala
- 1 Tbsp Tomato purée
- 1 Tbsp Coriander leaves (Chopped)
- 1 tsp Turmeric
Instructions
- In a pan, heat the oil and add the cumin seeds and asafoetida - let them splutter.
- Add gram flour, turmeric and ginger garlic paste and fry until the oil oozes out on the sides, taking care not to burn the gram flour.
- Add the chickpeas, salt, black pepper, dry mango powder, chaat masala and tomato purée and cook until the mixture is cooked properly.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
