Background

Chickpeas in gram flour sauce also called chole in gram flour gravy is a Punjabi dish, but this recipe is different from the popular Punjabi chole version. It tastes great with rice or roti.

Ingredients

1 can chickpeas
1 Tbsp Oil
½ Tbsp Gram flour
A pinch asafoetida
1 tsp Cumin seeds
2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
Salt as required
1 tsp Black pepper
1 tsp Dry mango powder
1 tsp Chaat masala
1 Tbsp Tomato purée
1 Tbsp Coriander leaves (Chopped)
1 tsp Turmeric

Instructions

In a pan, heat the oil and add the cumin seeds and asafoetida - let them splutter.
Add gram flour, turmeric and ginger garlic paste and fry until the oil oozes out on the sides, taking care not to burn the gram flour.
Add the chickpeas, salt, black pepper, dry mango powder, chaat masala and tomato purée and cook until the mixture is cooked properly.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
