Background
Tandoori chicken is famous all over the world. This recipe is a simplified version, which is ideal for barbecues, parties, and laid-back suppers. Serve these easy tandoori chicken drumsticks with chutney and other spiced sauces with flatbread or poppadoms. For a dairy-free version use coconut yoghurt.
Ingredients
- 8 chicken drumsticks
- 100 ml yogurt
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1-2 drops of red food dye (optional)
Instructions
- Score the chicken several times with a sharp knife.
- Mix the yogurt with the spices and garlic, add the dye, if used.
- Place the chicken legs in a freezer bag, pour over the yogurt mixture and tie. Massage the marinade well into the chicken. Rest in the fridge for minimum 2 hours, overnight, if possible.
- Take the chicken out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking.
- Heat your BBQ or grill and cook the chicken until golden, turning them regularly. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Tips
Instead of food dye you can add a couple of pinches of turmeric powder!© 2026 Copyright CookTogether
