Grilled flat iron steak
Background
The most popular steaks we buy are rump and sirloin - both can be wonderful but more often the ordinary supermarket ones can be disappointing. If you want something tender but flavoursome, but don't want to splash out on fillet or T-bone, you should really give this Grilled flat iron steak a try! I cooked this one on the barbie but it's great cooked in a griddle pan too.
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp Worcester Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Honey
- 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Chopped Fresh Ginger
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 cloves chopped fresh Garlic
- ½ tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients into a medium freezer bag, including the steak.
- Give it a good squidge to coat the meat entirely with the marinade.
- Put the bag in the fridge for a couple of hours - or rather longer if you have time to think ahead - to allow the flavours to permeate into the steak.
- Make sure the BBQ or pan are piping hot. Seal one side for 10 seconds, then turn and seal the other.
- Once sealed cook, turning frequently, for 2 minutes for rare up to 5 minutes for well-done.
- Cover to keep warm and allow to rest for a few minutes. Enjoy with your favourite vegetables or a fresh salad.
