Background
If you want an easy but super yummy burger do try this Italian style beef burger. Perfect for summer parties, barbecues, midweek suppers, lazy weekends etc. You can serve in gluten-free rolls, or with chips or with a salad too.
Ingredients
- 500g minced beef
- 1 small red onion
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp sundried tomato paste
- 1 Tbsp tomato paste
- Salt & pepper
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp grated Parmesan
- 2 Tbsp chopped basil leaves
- To assemble: buns, roasted pepper paste ( or pieces), gherkins, mustard, salad leaves, grilled onion/courgette etc
Instructions
- Finely chop or grate the onion.
- In a large bowl mix the mince, egg, garlic, onion, tomato pastes and Parmesan. Season with salt and pepper. Chill for 30 minutes, if you can.
- Heat the BBQ, grill or griddle pan to medium-high.
- Add the basil leaves to the mince mixture, then form 4 large or 6 smallish patties and put them on a plate. Cook the patties for 3-5 minutes on each side depending on how well cooked you like your burger.
- Meanwhile cut the buns in half and toast them.
- Spread some roasted pepper paste on the bottom halves, add some lettuce and roasted veggies, gherkins. etc Place the patties on top, add some mustard etc. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately.
