Kheema (minced meat) and tomato curry

Background
Kheema with tomato curry recipe is made with minced tender mutton meat. It is a very delicious recipe and is often made on Sundays in Indian households. This recipe is from my home town of Hyderabad and is a favorite of mine.
Ingredients
- 500 gm minced tender mutton meat or kheema
- 1 large sized onion (finely chopped)
- 2 green chillies (slit and cut)
- 1 Tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 3 Tbsp oil
- ΒΌ tsp turmeric powder
- Β½ tsp red chilli powder
- 2 medium size tomatoes (finely chopped)
- Β½ tsp garam masala powder
- 2 cup water
- 10-12 mint leaves (finely chopped)
- ½ sprig curry leaves
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnishing)
Instructions
- Wash the kheema thoroughly and strain out the excess water.
- Take a deep bottom vessel and add oil and heat it.
- Add sliced onions, green chillies and sauté until the onions turn very light brown color.
- Add ginger garlic paste and sauté to get rid of raw smell.
- Add kheema and water to it. Cover with a lid. Cook until the kheema is tender and cooked, and there is no water remaining.
- Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, mix well and fry for few minutes and cook until oil appears at the sides.
- Add chopped tomatoes, garam masala powder, curry leaves and mint leaves. Mix well and cook until the tomatoes turn soft.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
Tips
