Background
Tiramisu is one of the most popular desserts around the world, so there are many versions - from traditional to modern. This white tiramisu is made with white chocolate and instead of Mascarpone I used vanilla custard for the cream. You can use homemade or ready-made custards, and add alcohol to the coffee - raspberry, cherry or almond liqueur would work well. ( This is not suitable for children!). It’s an ideal dessert for garden parties and special occasions (such as Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, Anniversaries, etc.).
Ingredients
- About 14 Lady fingers (Savoiardi)
- 100 ml espresso coffee
- 300 ml vanilla custard
- 1 bar of white chocolate
- Raspberries, strawberries or blackberries
Instructions
- Melt half of the chocolate in a bowl, over simmering water. Grate the other half.
- When the chocolate has cooled, mix it with the custard.
- Pour the coffee into a shallow dish. Dip the lady fingers, each at a time, for a few seconds. They should not become soggy. Layer these in a dish or individual glasses, then spread over third or half of the custard (depending on the depth of the dish).
- Repeat the layering once or twice until you reach the edge of the glass. The custard should be the top layer.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Sprinkle with the grated chocolate before serving, then garnish with some berries.
