Easy prawn curry

Background
To make this prawn curry we just need the basic ingredients that would be available in most Indian kitchens. To make the gravy flavorful, we need mild garam masala powder, curry leaves and coconut. I have used tiger prawns, you can use any variety. This recipe is very easy to make and delicious.
Ingredients
- 250g prawns
- 2 large onions
- 1 Tbsp fresh coconut
- 2 pinches turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- ½ tsp coriander powder
- ¼ tsp cumin powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 Tbsp chopped spring onions
- 2 Tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Devein and wash the prawns. Set aside.
- Slice onions and put them in blender to make paste.
- Add 1 Tbsp oil in a pan and fry onion paste till brown. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell disappears.
- In another pan heat oil and add prawns and fry for 2 minutes. Add onion paste, salt and mix well.
- Grind the coconut in a mixer to a smooth paste and add this paste to the prawn’s gravy.
- Add garam masala powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder and red chilli powder, chopped spring onions and mix well.
- Add little water and cook till the prawns are cooked.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
