Background
An avocado can easily be carved into a skull or ghost, so why don’t you make an easy and healthy guacamole dip for Halloween? You can use my guacamole recipe or follow this one which is more bitty in order to look scary (also, I left out the chilli so that kids can enjoy it too). Serve them with normal or pumpkin tortilla chips.
Ingredients
- For the skull:
- 1 half avocado,
- Lime juice
- Chilli flakes or onion bits for teeth.
- For the guacamole:
- 1 small red onion, copped
- 2 cherry tomatoes, chopped
- 2 and ½ ripe avocados
- Chilli sauce or Tabasco (optional)
- Small handful of parsley or coriander leaves (optional)
- Lime juice
- Salt &pepper
Instructions
- Cut the avocado in half. Take out the pit.
- Using a sharp knife, cut eyes, nose (for a skull) and a mouth into the skin. Carefully remove the skin.
- You can now scoop out the flesh or leave it - if left, squeeze some lime juice over the flesh to prevent it discolouring.
- Make the guacamole by blitzing the ingredients above. Don’t over process, it should be bitty. Taste it, then season with salt, pepper and lime juice to your liking. Add some chilli sauce, of liked.
- Tip the avocado cream onto a plate and arrange some tortilla chips around it, then place the skull/ghost in the middle.
- It's ready to serve!
