Indian rice pudding (Payasam)

Background
The following rice pudding is a very famous sweet prepared for festivals in India. It is tasty to eat and easy to make. This pudding is native to Kerala in India.
Ingredients
- ⅓ rd cup Palada (Rice ada -type of rice, found in Indian stores )
- 2 cups Milk
- ¼ cup Sugar
- Dry fruits fried in little ghee (Optional)
Instructions
- Soak the rice in water for 10 minutes. Drain the water and set aside.
- In a deep bottomed vessel, add the rice and milk and cook on medium flame.
- When the mixture starts to boil, set it to low flame and cook until the rice becomes soft.
- Add the sugar and let it dissolve in the mixture.
- Garnish with dry fruits (Optional).
