Background

I made these jam puff rolls for my birthday party - they were a great success! And they are so easy to make - can be vegan or gluten-free too! Use any kind of jam, and add some thick custard, if dairy is not an issue for you.

Ingredients

1 pack ready-made puff pastry ( gluten-free, dairy-free, if needed)
Good quality homemade jam or jam
1 beaten egg (optional)
Icing sugar (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Unroll the pastry and cut it into equal-sized squares.
Drop some jam in the middle of each square, spread it out - but not to the edge of the pastry.
Roll them up, then place them onto a lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with the egg, if you want them shiny.
Bake until golden for 10-15 minutes, then let them cool on a rack.
Sprinkle with icing sugar, if you like.
