Background
Jeera rice (Cumin rice) is one of the easiest and most popular rice dishes which is very tasty and super-easy to make. It goes well with any curry, dal or raita.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Basmati Rice (Washed thoroughly)
- 1 Tbsp Cumin seeds
- 1 Green chilli (Chopped)
- 1 Tbsp Oil
- 1 sprig of coriander leaves (Chopped)
- 5 Mint leaves
- Salt as required
- 2 Cups water
Instructions
- Place a deep bottomed pan on medium heat, add oil.
- When the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add green chilli, coriander leaves and mint leaves and fry for few seconds.
- Add the washed rice, water and salt. Turn the heat down.
- Cook the rice under lid until it gets cooked (i.e. all the water is evaporated and bubbles come up to the surface).
- Turn off the heat and rest it t for 10 min.
- Serve hot with curry, dal or raita.
