Background

Jeera rice (Cumin rice) is one of the easiest and most popular rice dishes which is very tasty and super-easy to make. It goes well with any curry, dal or raita.

Ingredients

1 cup Basmati Rice (Washed thoroughly)
1 Tbsp Cumin seeds
1 Green chilli (Chopped)
1 Tbsp Oil
1 sprig of coriander leaves (Chopped)
5 Mint leaves
Salt as required
2 Cups water

Instructions

Place a deep bottomed pan on medium heat, add oil.
When the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add green chilli, coriander leaves and mint leaves and fry for few seconds.
Add the washed rice, water and salt. Turn the heat down.
Cook the rice under lid until it gets cooked (i.e. all the water is evaporated and bubbles come up to the surface).
Turn off the heat and rest it t for 10 min.
Serve hot with curry, dal or raita.
