Background
This is a super-easy side dish that goes well with most Asian-style food. The blanching process can be done in advance - the stir-frying only takes a couple of minutes. So it's an ideal dish within a bigger menu.
Ingredients
- 200g curly kale, washed
- 2 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 25g butter (or dairy-free margarine )
- Zest and juice of 1 small lemon
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Boil some water, add a little salt, and blanch the kale for 2-3 minutes. Then rinse with cold water and drain.
- In a wok fry the sesame seeds (without oil ) until gold. Add the butter, when melted, add the lemon zest and juice, stir. Add the kale and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
- Season to taste.
- Serve warm.
Tips
- You can make it spicy by adding a couple pinches of chilli flakes to the batter.
- If you've not got a wok you can use your deepest frying pan. But do get a wok they're quite cheap and very useful & healthy!
