Background
The combination of any kind of peppers and lentils give a very refreshing taste to the dish. It goes very well with steamed rice or roti. This dish is a regular at my place. It is a very colourful and tasty dish with flavours of all the peppers.
Ingredients
- 3 Peppers (Green, red and yellow)
- 1 Onion (chopped)
- ¼ cup Yellow moong dal (soaked for 10 min)
- 2 Dry red chillies
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- Salt as required
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 tsp tumeric
- Water as required
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and red chillies and let them splutter.
- Add the onions and fry them until they are transparent.
- Add turmeric and the yellow moong dal with approximately ¼ cup of water. The dal needs to be cooked until it becomes soft but separated (not squashed).
- Add the peppers and cook until they are soft.
- Add the required salt and mix and serve hot.
