Background

The combination of any kind of peppers and lentils give a very refreshing taste to the dish. It goes very well with steamed rice or roti. This dish is a regular at my place. It is a very colourful and tasty dish with flavours of all the peppers.

Ingredients

3 Peppers (Green, red and yellow)
1 Onion (chopped)
¼ cup Yellow moong dal (soaked for 10 min)
2 Dry red chillies
1 tsp Cumin seeds
Salt as required
1 tsp Oil
1 tsp tumeric
Water as required

Instructions

Heat the oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and red chillies and let them splutter.
Add the onions and fry them until they are transparent.
Add turmeric and the yellow moong dal with approximately ¼ cup of water. The dal needs to be cooked until it becomes soft but separated (not squashed).
Add the peppers and cook until they are soft.
Add the required salt and mix and serve hot.
